Add Sounds

Essentials

Add instruments, drums, and samples to build your track. Start by adding tracks from the timeline, then browse presets, search samples, or upload your own audio files. Everything you add appears on the timeline where you can arrange, loop, and edit it.

  • Add tracks (instruments, drums, samples, or audio) from the timeline

  • Browse presets for instruments and drum machines

  • Search and preview samples from the library

  • Upload your own audio files

  • Create MIDI patterns or drag samples into regions

Add Instruments

  1. Click New Track at the top left of the Timeline and select Instruments.

  2. Browse sounds in the Instruments library.

    • Use Up/Down keys to navigate.

    • Click on categories to show recommended.

    • Filter by name and tags using the search.

    • Click more to search in the full community library.

    • Use filters to narrow down the search.

  3. Play the onscreen keys to preview the sound.

    • Use Z/X to change octave down/up quickly.

    • Hold Shift to sustain the sound.

  4. Confirm your selection with Enter/Return or Double‑click or just by closing the Library panel.

  5. Or Cancel with Esc.

Add Drums

  1. Click New Track at the top left of the Timeline and select Drums.

  2. Browse sounds and categories in the Drums library.

    • Use Up/Down keys to navigate.

  3. Play the onscreen keys to preview the sound.

    • Use Z/X to change octave down/up quickly.

  4. Confirm your selection with Enter/Return or Double‑click or just by closing the Library panel.

  5. Or Cancel with Esc.

Write Notes and Pattern

Once you’ve added an instrument or drum machine, you can create and edit MIDI notes to play them.

  1. In the timeline, Double‑click the track and timing where you want to add a new region.

  2. Double‑click the MIDI region to open the MIDI Editor.

  3. In the MIDI Editor:

    • Double‑click to add and remove notes

    • Drag edges to change note length

    • Use Arrow keys to move selected notes around

    • Use Shift + Up/Down keys to transpose by one octave

  4. Maybe use Humanize for a bit of natural feeling.

  5. To loop a region Drag its top-right corner.

  6. To duplicate Alt/Option + Drag a region, or use copy/paste Ctrl/Cmd + C/V.

Browse & Add Samples

Add samples from the library to your project.

  1. Click New Track at the top left of the Timeline and select Samples.

  2. Browse and preview samples in the Samples library.

    • Use Up/Down keys to navigate.

    • Samples auto-preview on selection.

  3. Search and filter (optional):

    • Search by name, description, and tags.

    • Filter by often used tags.

    • Filter by type: All, Loops, One-Shots.

    • Filter by BPM while “Loops” is selected.

  4. Add by Dragging a sample into the timeline.

    • Drop the sample between tracks to create a new audio track.

    • Drop the sample onto an existing track to add it to the track.

Arrange Samples

  1. Position samples on the timeline by Dragging them to the desired location.

  2. Create patterns by repeating samples:

    • Alt/Option + Drag to duplicate a region.

    • Use copy/paste Ctrl/Cmd + C/V.

  3. Loop samples by Dragging the top-right corner of a region.

    • This will create a loop of the sample.

    • You can adjust the loop points by Dragging the edges of the region.

  4. Delete samples by selecting a region and pressing Delete, or Right‑click the region and select Delete.

Edit Samples

  1. Trim sample regions by Dragging the edges of the region.

  2. Cut/split samples at specific points:

    • Hold C and Click the region to split it at the cursor position.

    • Click the Cut tool and then Click the region to split it at the cursor position.

Check Editing → Audio for advanced editing features like fades, pitch adjustment, warp markers, and gain control.

Upload Samples

Upload your own audio samples to use in your projects.

  1. Open your local folder and locate the audio files you want to upload.

  2. Drag the audio files from your local folder into the timeline.

    • Drop the sample between tracks to create a new audio track automatically.

    • Drop the sample onto an existing audio track to add it to that track.

  3. The uploaded sample will appear in the timeline and is ready to use.

    • You can arrange, edit, and loop the sample just like other samples in your project.

Hint

Added samples are automatically uploaded to your private cloud sample library. You can access them from the Library panel.

  1. Open the Library panel and click on the Samples tab.

  2. Select Yours to see all your recorded and uploaded samples.
